Alt-pop quintet Birthday Card return with colourful new number ‘Radio Star’
Aylesbury based quintet Birthday Card are set to release their latest new single ‘Radio Star’ tomorrow world-wide. Coinciding with the announcement, the band announce the details of their debut London headline show on 19th September at The Old Blue Last.
Recorded and produced by Marcus Yates at Milk Man Studios the day before the UK went into full lockdown, ‘Radio Star’ was written and recorded in a matter of weeks. Birthday Card just state they’re one of those outfits that’s oozing with pure talent.
“Radio Star for us is a perfect summary of our sound – a straight up pop song. We were really lucky to be able to record this just before the lockdown, and it’s been really comforting having a single to focus on in these strange times. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it.” – Birthday Card
Effortlessly showcasing their original pop sound, ‘Radio Star’ draws inspiration from French New Wave. There’s a subtle nudge towards modern indie from the likes of The 1975 and MGMT but it’s the track’s arrangement that draws you in with it’s comforting nature.
For a band that have only been actively releasing music since last year, they’re illustrating how memorable and destined they are for stardom. ‘Radio Star’ is the type of track that just needs you dancing from the get go. Make sure to check these guys out, they’re infectious and deserve a place in your heart.
