Described as a four-piece ‘bubblegum goth’ band, China Bamboo specialise in creating music that doesn’t have a definite label.

Back with their second single to date, ‘Ambivalence (For You)’ is dreamy and sent from paradise.

A track that’s disguised as a love song, the message behind the new release is somewhat melancholic. Songwriter and lead vocalist Ruby had this to say on the release, “I wrote Ambivalence (For You) in my mid teens when I found myself in a spiral of confusion with contradictory ideas and feelings about everything.

The longing “For You’s” throughout the song were a disguise for what was really going on in my life. I wanted to portray that I was singing to someone when in-fact i was addressing myself.

Musically the song was arranged by Danny who was inspired by the melancholic feel of Kate Bush’s Deal With God (Running Up That Hill). He wanted to give the song a renewed feel siting the importance of resonating chords captivating the emotion of the song. Danny’s passion and new vision for the song was a turning point.

Surrounded by glistening synthesisers, powerful guitar riffs and enchanting vocals, the second release pushes China Bamboo’s captivating songwriting up a whole other level.

Just under 4 minutes of pure bliss, ‘Ambivalence (For You)’ is out now, and echoes beauty.
