Indie rock songwriter Danny Mellin is back with his first single of the year ‘Beaten Up Nikes’
Setting the scene with an infectious soundscape, Danny Mellin’s ‘Beaten Up Nikes’ is an upbeat indie wonder about a personal experience. Receiving support from BBC Introducing, the Oxford based songwriter started writing music at a very young age.
Releasing his first single at just 14 years old, it’s safe to say that Danny’s career has blossomed into something quite special.
On ‘Beaten Up Nikes’, Danny told us “I’m really excited for this release of this track. It’s the first track I’ve recorded with a full band and with a producer – the whole process was a lot of fun. Previously I’d only recorded my songs very much ‘DIY’ in my home studio, so this brought a new energy that I think comes across on the track.
The track itself is roughly based on personal experience and highlights those things, that once seemed so important, losing any significance once you meet that someone special. The sense that materialistic desires have been replaced by something much more important to you. I guess it’s that blissful naivety that is really at the core of the song’s lyrics.”
An anthem that’s destined for a feel-good playlist, ‘Beaten Up Nikes’ is a summer hit that must be played loudly. Featuring a strong vocal, the melodic track feels part of the family.
Showcasing an artist ready for a bigger stage, Danny Mellin’s latest release has the full cool factor. With a cold beverage in one hand and a pair of sunglasses on, the radiant single is iconic.
