Def Nettle offer two very distinct and wildly varying takes on their propulsive and exciting new single ‘The Party’

Armed with a distinctive sound that pushes the boundaries of genre convention and listener expectations, Def Nettle is a punk-funk project helmed by prolific musician Glen Brady, and their latest single ‘The Party’ does a great job of continuing to showcase this ambitious and creative appeal.

The track comes in two forms, released alongside a GLOK Remix that sees Andy Bell (Ride) offer an alternative, more atmospheric and intense version of the track that has a slimy, darkwave aesthetic that feels enticing throughout. This represents a tonal shift from the more funk-driven original track, with its infectious bassline and Joy Division-esque sheen that has the same kind of propulsive and memorable appeal that made them feel so vital and exciting. Both sides of the coin have exciting and memorable moments, and it makes for a truly exciting new release that offers two distinct versions that feel almost unrecognisable to each other in tone.
