Singer-songwriter Denney releases her fourth track of the year ‘Who We Are’

After consistent support from BBC Music Introducing on three other tracks released this year, Denney unleashes emotional pop ballad ‘Who We Are’.

Relatable and the soundtrack to your lockdown, ‘Who We Are’ features soft singer-songwriter sensibilities while still sounding commercial. Organic and something you’d want to hear on your new favourite TV show, you can truly hear Denney’s powerful connection with the single.

On her sensational new song, Denney mentioned, “Who We Are is actually the first song I’m releasing that’s based on my own experiences rather than writing about other people’s relationships. I think I’ve found it hard to share my own stories with the world and put a stamp on the fact that they’re truly about my own life and feelings.

So this makes me a bit nervous! Who We Are is about how sometimes two people can seem so perfect for each other on paper and to everyone around them, but actually it doesn’t always work like that even though you wish it did. You can be with this amazing person, and everything about them is great and lovely and they’re so nice to you, but that’s not always enough.

Telling us that the track more a less wrote itself, Denney adds, “The lyrics and melody to this song pretty much fell out of my head in one go, which is rare, but perhaps it was easier this time because it was my own story to tell.”

‘Who We Are’ lets you get comfortable after a long day, and captivates with it’s iconic story-telling.

An honest, strong contender in this songstress’ discography, that’s for sure.
