Moving away from the gentle R&B tones of her previous releases, Jessica Nicole Brown shares her explosive, rock-tinged new single “Hoopla la la”
“Hoopla la la” sees Brown let loose with an uncaged, emotive track full of anger and intense energy.
Blending elements of pop and hip-hop with rock and punk elements, the track possesses a strikingly unique soundscape with splashes of screamo dotted among Jessica’s flow and moments of singing.
Punchy and biting, the track’s blend of intense drums, fuzzy bass, distorted synths and guitars perfectly mirrors and compliments the ferocious vocal delivery.
All of the instrumentation comes together to create a unique, multifaceted soundscape able to fit among rock tunes just as well as it could on a hip-hop playlist.
Speaking about the single, Brown explains: “I went through many different drafts, but the constant was
the feeling of rage or hatred towards someone who said they loved me… I just imagined it with obnoxious 808s and a rock flair. I also heard it having somewhat of a pop/punk attitude in my delivery.
Picture this song being recorded after I was put through hell and now, I’m back to return the favor.”
Since the release of her acclaimed debut EP Girl, I Don’t Know, Jessica Nicole Brown has established herself as one to watch with a fluorescent artistic flair and huge amounts of musical potential.
Now back with a fresh new sound on “Hoopla La La”, Brown is showcasing what a versatile talent she is.
