Munich based brothers return with the visuals for post-punk infused with pop track ‘Emotional Distancing’
Brothers Tom and Mike Zitzelsberger aka Konsequence create music without any boundaries. Using their family bond to their greatest potential, the connection between the two is creative and sincere, and you can truly feel it. ‘Emotional Distancing’ was dropped back in April, and has been turning heads with it’s post-punk flavourings mixed with an electro-pop affiliation.
On the single, Konsequence told us, “the song is about an unnecessary breakup. It’s about an emotional gap between lovers that eventually leads to self-isolation.”
Returning with the clear visuals for the track, the music video begins with subtle mental health imagery of escaping out of one’s mind, but in the video’s case, escaping a graffiti infused lift. Finally out of the ‘dark place’, the protagonist runs across a rooftop longing for something else.
Featuring some movements best described as something you’d see straight out of The OA, the video ends with the light entering and a big smile from the main character. The visuals for ‘Emotional Distancing’ showcase there’s always light at the end of the tunnel.
Video director Felix Koch used the restrictions of lockdown to inspire his work, adding “I felt the pressure to break out. Konsequence expressed this emotional state in their song and inspired me to portray the feeling. The world around us is contaminated, and we have a deep human urge to be free.
‘Emotional Distancing’ illuminates freedom out of every crack. An exceptional release armed with a genuine visual.
