Indonesian indie-rock newcomers Kūmorebi share their new single ‘Trouble on a Saturday Night’
Out worldwide tomorrow, ‘Trouble on a Saturday Night‘ is the fascinating new release from indie-rock outfit Kūmorebi.
Comprising of Chaska Hermawan (lead vocals, guitar) , Bradley “Wave” Kustiono (bass, vocals), Mahir Karim (drums, vocals) and Leana Shaqira (synthesizers, vocals) the four piece bring together a unique blend of synths, guitars and live drums to create a sound packed with all the joy and flair of early 00’s indie with a current, modern edge.
Covering a lot of ground that feels familiar, the new single still captures an authentic soundscape.
Capturing all of the flair and excitement of The Strokes and Hot Fuss era The Killers, Kūmorebi’s sound still pays homage to the likes of The Cure and Joy Division.
Speaking on the meaning behind the new single, the band said, “The song is about ‘the chase’.
It’s the high that you get when you are trying to get with another person; the adrenaline that is constantly rushing when you are putting yourself in a position to ask out someone you like, and ultimately succeeding despite the inevitable unknown.”
Capturing an essence of new wave in the depths of their indie rock sound, Kūmorebi have a unique approach to their art.
Despite being only their second single, this is a striking sophomore single that gives insight into the band’s fantastic debut EP ‘Asking for Some Time’.
