British songwriter, vocalist and producer Lauren L’aimant reveals highly euphoric new single ‘One Night’, taken from her forthcoming debut EP ‘Motions’, out tomorrow.
With synthwave being a huge part of the music industry at the moment, Lauren L’aimant feels like an artist that could easily be a pioneer in the making.
Just under three and a half minutes long, the prominently synth-heavy track radiates a rose-tinted aura and would be the perfect addition to a club scene in your favourite movie.
Lauren L’aimant had this to say on the new release, “Drawing influence from 80s pop smashes, ‘One Night’ was written in the midst of a whirlwind romance.
The kind where your every sense is heightened and romanticized, and the intensity alone feels like you’re falling in love.
Touching on themes of lust, sex and the prospect of new love, it’s a song that I’m incredibly proud of, and that I feel will resonate with those of us that consider themselves ‘The New Romantics’.”
Speaking about the EP as a whole, Lauren recalls, “‘Motions’ is a body of work that has been in production for over four years, and it finally feels like the right time to put it out into the world.
Each song represents a particular moment within my relationships; the one that I missed out on. The one where I was consumed by lust. The one where I accepted the other person for who they truly are.
The one where I took the burden. The one where it all ended. The one where I lost my brother. When I listen to these songs, I’m transported back to those times, and I think about every motion and every [e]motion I went through at that time.
As always, it’s cathartic, and allows me to reflect on how far I’ve come, not only as a musician but as a human being.”
