Grand Rapids based trio Lipstick Jodi unveil the brand new visuals for single ‘Don’t Wanna Know’
“Don’t Wanna Know” is the final single from Lipstick Jodi’s forthcoming sophomore album ‘More Like Me’, and it’s an experience sent straight from the realms of hope.
Led by non-binary songwriter and guitarist Karli Morehouse, this fascinating trio specialise in creating innovative experimental pop with a strong dose of electronica too.
Directed by Luke Schmidt whilst the videography was led by Young Marcus, the enchanting lighting is radiant and that’s all thanks to AJ Paschka.
Edited by Josh Kranich, the team on board for the visuals are highly talented and ooze with personality.
Sharing their thoughts on the release, Karli explains, “The first demo I made of “Don’t Wanna Know” was the first spark of Lipstick Jodi’s renewal for me. It seemed like the light at the end of a really long tunnel. I was feeling stuck in time in the eyes of the people around me; like I was being judged constantly for my past.
I felt like no one wanted to know me past surface level, or know me for who I really was and who I would become. It all started with the chord riff that rides through the intro and verse that really set the mood for revival. As the lyrics came out, it came to life and I could finally see past my then current situation.
The words “don’t wanna know” kept swelling and repeating in my head. With Luke’s chorus chord progression and Andy’s pop production, the song became so much more than I initially expected.”
Musically, the addictive number is bathed in unapologetic rhythms and dark-pop synthwave sensibilities.
Visually, the music video sees the outfit perform the track with a psychedelic realm of colours constantly radiating.
