R&B singer-songwriter Lucy DK returns with an elegant pop twist in latest anthem ‘Selfish’
Bringing her own musical stylings to the table, Lucy DK’s sound is best identified as embodying past influences with her unique take on today’s world.
Writing self-penned songs to begin with, Lucy’s career has blossomed into a songwriter staying as true to herself as possible. Returning with two singles today, ‘Selfish’ features producer grkoz.
On the release, Lucy DK told us, “Selfish exists in a kind of a dream-like state where sweet things turn sour, or there’s a sour side to sweet things. When you write confessional songs there’s often a pressure to present yourself like the hero or the victim and never the villain.
But we all have mad, bad thoughts sometimes, and act in ways we’re not proud of. This is me exploring those sides of myself too.”
‘Selfish’ surrounds itself in an electro-pop arrangement while nudging Lucy’s R&B and soul sound. While the production is crisp and prominent, the instrumentation underneath the mix captures today’s mainstream chart sound with ease.
An enchanting track that includes lo-fi sensibilities, Lucy DK is clearly stating she’s destined for the big time.
