Luss reminisces on a night he’d rather forget in heartfelt anthem ‘No Angels’
Bronx New York artist Luss announces passionate new anthem ‘No Angels‘ – and we can promise you, it’s a tear-jerking track with a distinctive story.
Teaming up with Joe Craze for the track, the two artists also produced the track together.
Reminiscing on a traumatic night, Luss documents his emotions on the evening he was arrested at a peaceful protest.
Luss’s vocals create a dream-like feel that allows you to tap into a reflective state; each line smoothly bounces off the other.
Gliding through on an 808 beat, it’s Luss’ silky, mellow vocals that steal the spotlight.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, Luss shares, “I wrote no angels the day after I got arrested at a peaceful protest around my neighbourhood to bring aware to all the police violence that was happening against people of color.
At some point of the protest we were kettled and couldn’t move anywhere. Than next thing you know police were hitting everyone with Batons, pepper spraying and slamming people to the ground.
I remember being on the ground with pepper spray all over my eyes I couldn’t see anything but I can feel cops hitting me and at that moment I almost lost hope and thought man this could be it for me.
You start thinking about your whole life in those moments when you’re unsure of what’s going to happen to you. We were layed to the ground for almost 2 hours for the whole community to see.
Not one cop would tell us what was happening next or where we were going they just left us on the ground. I spent almost 14 hours arrested, no water, no food, with injuries and once I got out I needed a way to express myself I was carrying a lot with me and I was just trying to act like everything was okay when deep down I felt defeated.
This song was therapy for me as soon as I heard the instrumental that Joe craze was making for me the words just came to us. So this song is an interpretation of everything I felt in that moment.”
A hard-hitting single but an important asset to the industry, Luss is a remarkable artist.
