Olive Featherstone gives an emotional peek into her debut album with new single ‘Lie Down’

Part of the anticipated upcoming debut Olive Featherstone album ‘I Was Wondering, Lost’ pencilled for Summer 2022 release, ‘Lie Down’ is an evocative depiction of Olive’s difficulties with the loss of self.

The smooth and delicate guitar, as well as Olive’s soft-toned voice, take the listener on a peaceful journey, which gradually transforms into a more intense sound, with a brassier guitar and louder vocals.

Overflowing the gravity of the song’s difficult subjects, vocals appear to shine a brighter light on them, exhibiting Olive’s artistic brilliance, in the song’s emotional and rejuvenating journey.

Talking about the inspirations of the song, Olive Featherstone shares: “’Lie Down’ was always one that felt incredibly emotional for me; it covers the time of my life when I was struggling most with depersonalisation.

I was bedridden for a week, unable to do most things without feeling overwhelmed by the state I was in. It felt as though I were watching my life through a TV screen somewhere in my brain.

The worst part was no one around me being able to relate to how I was feeling; so being able to look at that time retrospectively is so wonderful to see how much I’ve progressed. Calum Wotherspoon, my guitarist, and producer, really helped me breathe life into this track.

My favourite bit of this recording is the jangly, gritty guitar tones and the gradual descent towards the end of the track.”

Olive is set to release a mesmerising debut album called ‘I Was Wondering, Lost’ in the summer of 2022. Olive’s body of work is her driving force for dealing with topics such as drug misuse and depersonalisation, which have been difficult to explore within bands of previous years.

Olive Featherstone’s identity as a solo artist provides a secure platform to express personal narratives. Calum Wotherspoon and Olive both ‘learned on the job’ while recording and producing ‘I Was Wondering, Lost.’

Despite the fact that they entered the studio as novices, the ultimate outcome is something entirely different. ‘I Was Wondering, Lost’ is a stunning and triumphant debut, packed with emotional storytelling and immersive production, shining the best colours on Olive Featherstone as an artist.
