Olive Featherstone unveils stunning debut single ‘Opium Requiem’
Bristol-based singer-songwriter Olive Featherstone storms onto the scene with her ethereal debut single ”Opium Requiem’.
Sounding like the lovechild of Marika Hackman and Karen O, Olive Featherstone’s incredible songwriting is not to be missed.
Powerfully executed with layers of character, ‘Opium Requiem’ is a stunning debut that refuses to be left on the back burner.
We spoke with Olive about the exceptional debut, and she had this to say, “I wrote this song at the end of a turbulent relationship with someone who would be awake whilst I was sleeping in the same room – he’d be sat by the window, smoking and watching people go by. I always thought that symbolised the distance we had between us in that relationship.”
Out worldwide Friday, Olive’s debut single feels like Christmas has come early. Bathed in sleazy guitar melodies, triumphant lyricism and powerful vocals, ‘Opium Requiem’ could easily put this songwriter on the map.
Taken from a forthcoming album pencilled for an Autumn release, ‘Opium Requiem’ deals with finding yourself again after feeling lost for some time and you didn’t even realise.
Indie music at its finest, this body of work paves the way for a vibrant future ahead for Olive.
