Brooklyn duo The Love Ways showcase an unabashed, gritty edge on their explosive new single ‘Sunset Signs’
Brooklyn alternative rock outfit The Love Ways are a band that have been consistently plugging away over the last few years, establishing themselves as an outfit with a dynamic sound and consistently strong output that feels unapologetically brash and loud while having a fun, engrossing edge.
The latest single from the duo is ‘Sunset Signs’, a spiky and punk-edged track that showcases the grittiest and darkest side to the band that we’ve seen to date. The relentless and chaotic spirit of bands like IDLES is captured on a track that sees the band forced to reckon with themselves and the path that they have steered themselves down, and such a thoughtful and anguished subject matter lends itself perfectly to such an emotionally charged and impactful sound. ‘Sunset Signs’ is a track that continues to revolutionise and push the boundaries of The Love Ways and their emphatic sound, and provides them with their most potent and affecting work to date.
“With ‘Sunset Signs’ we set out pretty intentionally to make a grittier, much more punk song than we ever have before.” The Love Ways say of the new release. “James was listening to a ton of Idles, Mark dove into QOTSA and The Hives this time around and we went into the studio with the goal of having a ton of fun. I think generally the music community is emerging from this kind of dismal period of drearily self-serious rock, so when James & I were discussing doing something that goes a bit harder, faster & louder than what we’ve done before it was really important to us that we & the audience know that this is supposed to be a great fucking time.”
