Manchester-based trio VELVET SHAKES unveil astonishing debut EP ‘Mellowdrama’
Both encapsulating the passion and emotion of a traditional ‘melodrama’, VELVET SHAKES are here with their electric debut EP.
Having ended 2019 with packed out support slot with Crazy P at Manchester’s Gorilla, VELVET SHAKES were set to soar in 2020 with their newly reinvigorated, high energy, charisma filled live show and were confirmed for the likes of Focus Wales and Kendal Calling; building on already established support from the likes of BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, and XS Manchester – but there’s always 2021…
Exploring themes of modern society, lockdown and just the general global situation, ‘Mellowdrama’ is armed with four tracks that consistently stick with the band’s signature indie sound.
Speaking about how the EP was recorded, VELVET SHAKES add, “because of what the global situation entailed, the EP was largely made in Josh’s back bedroom studio in isolation – but we still managed to make it a collaborative VELVET SHAKES record – there were a lot of emails and voice notes to each other…”
Using hard-hitting instrumentation and a clear production to convey their hectic message, the vital asset to the VELVET SHAKES’ discography will certainly put them firmly on the map.
