Copenhagen rock outfit Velvet Volume unveil latest single ‘Carry’ as one of their most melodic tracks to date
Brimming with attitude and punk elements, Velvet Volume comprise of three sisters, Nataja (drums) and twins Noa (vocal and guitar) and Naomi (vocal and bass). Set to release their highly anticipated second album Ego’s Need on 29th May via Mermaid Records, the trio are releasing ‘Carry’ ahead of the release. As one of their most melodic tracks yet, the number details guilt and doubt.
Velvet Volume mentioned; ‘Carry is a song about self pity, written on a sofa belonging to a close friend on a dark winters Sunday — haunted by your bad conscience that you despise and try to make peace with, while simultaneously dwelling in a clinging self-pitying state after a dramatic night out. A night where you have done the worst imaginable, but you decide that the smartest thing to do is to just hide it.
Perhaps the song is written by guilt after a long chaotic period. Therefore we felt it fitted perfectly by accompanying the track with a much ‘lighter’ musical expression, which makes the song more informal. We have had an enormous freedom and desire to experiment on our new album, which is the case on ‘Carry’, because of the more melodic and ‘soft’ approach that shines through.’
Indie rock with elements of alternative in the mix, these sisters are the next big family establishment. ‘Carry’ leads the way through a high volume of anticipation. A vibrant new single from the exquisite three piece and we’re looking forward to the second album release in May.
