South-West London outfit Quiet Tongues have immediately established their 90s-kissed brand of shimmering, alternative rock on their debut release ‘Ennui’.

The track is packed full of distinctive textures and moments, taking a classic sound and giving it enough of a unique flavour and sense of dynamism to make it feel revitalised and fresh. There are some really great moments here, and a timeless sound that borrows from the last few decades of indie and alternative rock in different places to craft something that feels exciting and new, with the apex being the track’s soaring chorus that exemplifies this timeless, classic feel. Quiet Tongues are just getting started but their likeable sound, fun, intricate rhythms and sense of both the familiar and fresh sets them aside as an emerging outfit to look out for.
