It’s the first track to come from an ongoing collection of music entitled ‘Songs from an Empty Orchestra’, to be released across 2020.
Newcastle’s own talented S.F.Johnson has today released ‘Midnight’.
Now living in Tokyo Johnson has produced a dreamy, soundscape in ‘Midnight’, that’s the first taste of an ongoing collection, Songs From An Empty Orchestra, that’s going to be released over the remainder of 2020.
Speaking on the project, Johnson explains that, “The idea for the project began as a way of capturing my time living in Tokyo; living here can be inspiring, but also alienating. The project as a whole is mainly a mix of personal reflections alongside bits of observation and story-telling. The title ‘Songs from an Empty Orchestra’ comes directly from experience recording most of the music in the local karaoke. The thin walls in Tokyo houses often puts a limit on what you can do in a home studio, so a karaoke is the cheapest and next best place for recording vocals. Midnight was all about trying to capture the essence of the city at night.”
‘Midnight’ follows Johnson’s success under the moniker Goodbye Chanel and Modern Pleasure.
