The single is from from the artist’s latest album Killing My Mind
London-based dark-pop titan Salt Ashes is on an absolute tear as of late, with her latest album Killing My Mind bursting with empowering and defiant tracks around relationships and life as a woman in the contemporary world. One of these tracks is her new single ‘Body Says’, a track that feels like a natural successor to the CLOUT championed ‘Lucy’.
The track is an upbeat piece of memorable dark-pop from the artist, as we have grown to expect, but it’s cutting lyrics about body autonomy and having the right to own your own choices is what really sets it apart. Salt Ashes is an artist who isn’t afraid to push for what she believes in on her sound, calling out dark and sometimes taboo issues that women are faced with, the track and the album are a glowing example of what the artist is capable of and the power that her lyrics and her sound can have.
The track also features an similarly powerful music video that continues this theme of female empowerment. On the choreographed performance piece, Salt Ashes portrays a character that is not dissimilar The Bride from Kill Bill and other badass female protagonists.
Salt Ashes said: “Working with Kassandra Powell on this video was such a ride. We have a shared love for all things Tarantino, David Lynch and Stanley Kubrick and I’ve been a big fan her work for a while now so I thought we’d create something great together.”
