The track is from the artist’s forthcoming EP Little Box.
Showered in adoration and acclaim following his last few releases, Sammy Copley is riding a wave of momentum as of late, with the Irish singer-songwriter’s endearing and thoughtful sound reaching increasingly soaring heights.
The latest release from the artist is ‘You’, a track that sees him tackle a painful teenage break up as he continues to showcase his deftness as a songwriter and storyteller capable of pulling on heartstrings and intoxicating you within his thoughtful, rich narratives. The artist’s delicate and poised vocals feel as powerful as ever here, and the composure of his stripped-back sound continues to elevate these tracks and give them that extra layer of gripping emotion and rawness.
“I wrote ‘You’ after one of those particularly messy teenage breakups when all your emotions feel so big and scary and new; it’s about reevaluating the relationship and wondering if any of it was actually how it seemed at the time.” Sammy says of the track. “The conflicting feelings of loving someone and resenting them for hurting you feel relevant even to my now-adult self, so it felt good to breathe new life into an older song that came from such a place of teen angst.”
