The track is the first taste of the artist’s upcoming new LP A Sound In The Dark.
Toronto artist Sandra Bouza has made an emphatic and memorable return in the form of her stunning latest single and video ‘The City’, a track that is packed full of emotional resonance and the enduring appeal of her poignant and powerful style.
The track explores youth, and the way that people can have a tendency to try to rush through this time in your life in order to feel more grown up and mature, when in actuality it just reinforces your naïvety ends up backfiring. The thoughtful nature of the lyrics and narrative is accentuated by the gorgeously poised nature of Sandra’s sound, with her voice and piano making for an effortlessly engaging, stripped-back showcase of the artist’s raw talent and the way that her allure can draw you into her immersive storytelling and charm. ‘The City’ is a nostalgic and captivating ode to youthful ignorance and the mistakes that we make along the way, signalling the artist’s re-emergence and upcoming new album A Sound In The Dark in characteristically rousing fashion.
“This is a song about the naïve exuberance of youth,” says Sandra. “Trying to bypass your innocence because you think you’ve got it all figured out. I really felt a connection to Neil Young’s ‘Birds’ when I wrote this song.”
