Over the last few years, South London duo Scrounge have been establishing their unique brand of post-punk that feels far too fleshed out and all-encompassing to feature just two members.

The latest of these releases is ‘This Summer’s Been Lethal’, the outfit’s first since early last year. The track feels intense and anxious as it builds, painstakingly through tetchy riffs and undeniably catchy rhythms. There is a really distinctive feel that surrounds Scrounge’s sound, and with their debut album due later this year, we could be about to see the best of it fleshed out in a way that we haven’t yet seen.

“‘This Summer’s Been Lethal’ is a retrospective track rooted in uncertainty, desperation and disappointment despite all the excitement of summer,” Scrounge say. “Recorded on the hottest day of the year, we wanted to make something dismal yet danceable. With its pulsing drum patterns and ringing guitars, this track reminds the listener to persevere through the pessimism.”
