Their monumental new release gets a video packed with footage from Sea Girls’ recent sold out Academy Brixton show
While writing anthems seems to be second nature to UK indie rock outfit Sea Girls, with ‘Hometown’ they may have created their most emphatic and memorable to date. Now met with an equally memorable video that features footage from one of the outfit’s signature, raucous shows, there is a really triumphant and engaging vibe that surrounds everything about their latest track.
The track feels like a seismic release for the outfit, like a huge, defining moment. The track encapsulates the energy and spirit of the outfit and channels it into a restless and transcendent package that feels like an immediate classic. ‘Hometown’ is a track that is covered in lasting appeal, bursting with infectious appeal, begging to be shouted, arms around each other, thinking about old friends, good times and all of the things that make where you’re from special. Stellar, stellar work from the outfit, and the biggest indication yet that Homesick is set to be something really special.
“‘Hometown’ is one of the most important songs I’ve written. It defines my philosophy.” says frontman Henry Camamile. “While writing songs for the new album, I had this intense love for life. Hometown is about people I knew growing up that aren’t around anymore. I’m saying ‘I see you’ – it’s a nod to them. I’m grateful for life and I am not going to jeopardise it in any way.”
“Every hometown has its own identity – all of them are exciting and rewarding to visit for different reasons” he says “We made this video from footage of one show on the tour – it’s just one of those special stories. We want to be a part of your story, you’re already a part of ours.”
