Addressing heavy themes such as addiction and mental health struggles, New Hampshire alternative rock outfit Sleepspirit pull no punches on their latest single ‘Reflections’, continuing to establish the range and depth of their melodic sound.
The track does a great job of balancing these themes alongside a sound that is packed full of gravity and pertinence, with soaring and melodic moments flanked by elaborate breakdowns, hard-hitting riffs and frontman Bobby Fitzgerald’s vocals that have a bit of a Dallas Green-esque soulfulness to them. Sleepspirit are at their most forthright and direct on the track, addressing its themes with an earnest sense of honesty and vulnerability that feels refreshing and authentic, with the powerful writing providing a wonderful accent to the heaviness of the sound, especially towards its climax. ‘Reflections’ is a really encouraging release from the outfit, and is sure to see them continue to build up steam as they develop and evolve their thoughtful sound.
