The track comes with a cutting edge new music video too
There is a real brooding and unsettling feel to latest sophie meiers release ‘collar’. The artist is a master of cultivating an intoxicating and uneasy atmosphere on their tracks, hypnotising and lulling you into their world of grunge dreaminess.
‘collar’ moves at a slow, but always deliberate, pace, with sophie’s haunting, calculated vocal performance keeping you on edge throughout. The track does a perfect job of showcasing how less can often be more, with a subtly distorted guitar and the harrowingly disconnected vocals providing an all-encompassing and mesmerising sound.
“‘collar’ is a song about intoxication, indulgence, wanting, and euphoria.” sophie says of the track. “i wanted to embody the feeling of your heart racing, and the lulling warmth in between. it is about words hanging in the air, unspoken and magnetic, filling space with blood orange light. it’s rare for me to write a song that feels so overwhelmingly happy and glowy.”
