The track deftly explores a toxic relationship and all of its ups and downs.

On ‘Indigo’, emerging US outfit Sour Magic feel like they’re really beginning to establish a unique and exciting sound for themselves, encompassing genres such as blues, funk, dance, surf, and post-rock, with the end result feeling like a thoroughly distinctive psychedelic cocktails of signs that sounds that feels without peer.

The track explores the themes and nuances within a toxic relationship, and the juxtaposition between the nice memories and things like lies and egos and other factors that cloud your judgement and make it difficult to make decisions about the future. The sound seems to mutate and transform and change on a number of occasions, with moments of spacious euphoria flanked by more anxious sections, all accosted by the floaty, all-encompassing vocals that permeate each and every section. ‘Indigo’ truly feels like a track that captures the unexpected ups and downs of a relationship and its tone often shifts accordingly, the track is a really interesting and really intelligent release from an outfit that, having only formed in 2021, seem to have a really slick grasp on their sound.
