The track is a welcome return from the outfit and their first release of 2022.

Adelaide alt-country collective Sturt Avenue have established themselves as an outfit who’s often laid-back and thoughtful sound has won them admires from around Australia and the world, boasting a uniquely poised sense of perspective and composure.

The latest release to reaffirm this notion is their latest single ‘Best Friend’, a break up track that pangs with a deep sense of emotional resonance and heart. ‘Best Friend’ is Sturt Avenue at their most vulnerable and stripped-back, with its delicate and gentle instrumentation doing very little to obscure to sheer emotion and pain that drips from the vocals throughout. Dear friend of the outfit and collaborator Katie Pomery provides backing vocals and her partner Tom Johnston, provides drums on the track, with it all coming together to form one of the most harrowingly real and poignant releases of the year so far.
