The midlands outfit continue to establish their signature sound on their first release of 2020.

There is a swaggering confidence that personifies the sound of Wolverhampton’s The Calamity, as Billy Haynes’ poetic daydreamy vocals saunter through latest single ‘The Landlord’ like the Midlands’ answer to Jarvis Cocker, it’s hard not to get engrossed in the sound and the unique qualities that it possesses.

The track never really gets out of first gear, but it doesn’t really have to. The story is told with an eye to detail that almost paints the narratives that are being described. The track is unabashedly confident and wry, it’s tongue-in-cheek, half-interested style may not be for everyone, but there is a lot to enjoy and consume here.
