Love and relationships are complicated, so why not just remove your own heart to just avoid the hassle? That seems to be the idea that The Candid are exploring on their latest single, and if nothing else, the end result has provided the outfit with a thoroughly captivating and engrossing track. Not a bad trade off considering.
There are all of the hallmarks of a great piece of modern alternative rock here, there is emotional gravity that feels reminiscent of acts like Pinegrove and Sorority Noise and enough catchy hooks and melodies to ensure that the track ticks along nicely. ‘Amputation’ is a unique take on the heartbroken ballad, and showcases an act approaching the situation on their own terms, with encouraging results.
