Off the heels of their well received 2021 debut LP Save Trestles, rapidly rising surf and indie rock The Sandspits look to build on their momentum with the release of their new single ‘Melocoda’, a breezy track that showcases the ever-growing maturity of the outfit’s sound as they continue to expand upon it.

The San Luis Obispo outfit, who have quickly established themselves as a staple of their local scene, have already established the track as a favourite at their live shows, and it is easy to see why. The track moves at a deliberate, poised pace but still packs in surf rock grooves and little moments of excitement and fun. Lyrically the track also represents a moment of growth and development for the outfit, before giving way to sporadic waves of guitars that add a real effortless sheen to the sound and keep it feeling interesting. ‘Melocoda’ does a stellar job of taking the sound that the outfit have and continuing to push it forward and into new sonic territory while keeping what makes the outfit feel so special. When album number two rolls around it feels easy to bank on it matching or even surpassing the success of its predecessor.
