The track is the rising Sunderland artist’s first single since the release of EP3.
Whenever a new Tom A. Smith track drops, you can almost guarantee that the artist is going to do something to push the boundaries of his memorable sound or expand or develop it in some way, such is the artist’s artistry and desire to continue growing and evolving over time, and his latest single ‘Fading Away’ is no exception to this rule.
The track might just be the Sunderland artist’s most powerful and passionate release to date, playing off the most heartfelt and emphatic aspects of his style to create a track that packs a real sense of intensity and rawness while packing a euphoric, shimmering sheen. Tom A. Smith’s sound has always had an air of the all-conquering and all-encompassing to it, and this track feels like the one that really cements it and drives it home, packed full of vibrancy and life and the artist at his soaring best.
Adding about the new track, he said, “I wrote this song in a completely different way than I usually do and everything just flowed so beautifully that the demo and everything was completed in under 5 hours. I love space and think the whole thing had a classic vibe. The double meaning of the lyrics and everything works really well for me. To get Hugo White to produce it was fate I think. I think he’s a genius and it was such an enjoyable process. It stays really faithful to the original demo but as soon as he got his hands on it, it became massive “.
