The artist puts his signature and moving spin on the classic Christmas song on his latest single
On his stirring and festive new single ‘This Christmas Time’, celebrated Sunderland artist Tom A. Smith continues to demonstrate his engrossing songwriting and distinctive style, adding his unique flair and charm to the classic Christmas song and leaving a memorable impression in the process.
The track sees the artist melding his usual indie rock flair with more festive production which makes for an approach that feels both familiar and modern while packing a warmth that feels appropriate for the occasion. Writing lyrics that feel both personal and universally resonating is something that comes as second nature to the artist, and the poignant and sometimes bittersweet feel of the track has a ring of honesty to it while the little sonic nuances and Christmassy touches keep things light musically.
Adding about the new release, he said, “I wanted to write something that would stand the test of time, I love bittersweet songs and think it has a fantastic mood to it. I wrote the song when I was 15 and have played it every December and sort of insisted that I wanted the world to hear it. I’ve seen the live acoustic version stop people in their tracks and I’m really proud of it”
