Fiercely intense alternative band Troln have something of an otherworldly haunting quality to their sound and presentation, creating a memorable sense of atmosphere that lingers and sticks to you for long after a track is over, and their new single ‘For Love’, a “love song”, is no exception to this rule.

The track was written by Troln singer Helene Navne after getting to know a woman who left an abusive relationship, inspiring her to write about such situations and give people the push that they might need to realise the realities of their situations, and that the love that they are staying for might not be love at all. This poignant, and entirely necessary and thoughtful subject matter is met masterfully by the band’s eeire soundscape and foreboding sense of intensity and trademark darkness. ‘For Love’ is beautifully melodic while always feeling like it is a step or two away from revealing something horrifying and monstrous, and it makes their sound all the more exciting and memorable for it.
