Indie pop duo Two People return with the moody longing of ‘Someone To Serve’. The track follows 2020s earlier singles ‘A Taste’ and ‘Dream Steppin”.

Comprised of Melbourne dwellers Phoebe Lou and Joseph Clough, the dynamic duo have been writing music together since their teens, first under the project Snakadaktal. Joining forces as Two People however, has allowed them to construct a sound closer to their own vision.

Urged forth by a coercive bassline and skittish beats, the track develops a moody underbelly of energy that is immediately palpable and barely constrained. Decorated with bright guitar and psychedelic synth tones, Lou’s clear vocal leads the charge of frustration of yearning for purpose.

“‘Someone To Serve’ is like a dystopian rock song. We started writing the track back around 2018, when our first record was finished but prior to its release,” shares Clough of the track. “There was all this angst and fight in us that was coming from the limbo phase we were in, so we captured it. We wanted to make something that felt really urgent and yet totally conscious, you know like grabbing the bull by its horns.

“We kept coming back to this imagery of a car speeding through the desert, cliffs and dirt and nothing else,” he continues. “We didn’t muck around with perfecting things, the vocal take we used was one of the first, where one night in the studio Phoebe was finishing off the lyrics and just hurtled in… that was the vibe. Simmo really pushed the sound where it needed to go and we just kept agreeing that it felt good and right.”

‘Someone To Serve’ is available now via Liberation Records. Two People’s new album Second Body is set for release on 28th August.
