Growing up can be a difficult, if inevitable, process, and one that can take some time getting accustomed to as you hold onto some aspects of yourself and your life while reluctantly letting go of others.

This is a subject that Sheffield born, New Zealand based alternative rock outfit Voodoo Bloo tackle on their engaging new single ‘Small’. Anchored by their emotive soundscapes and the unique tone and authentic feel of frontman Rory McDonald’s impassioned vocals, ‘Small’ is a cathartic track that, while taking a more considered approach than their usual high-octane post-punk-esque style, continues to establish the outfit as a truly unique act that have carved out their own lane in the modern alternative music scene. A stellar and rewarding track that might just hit home and feel quite poignant to those who have experienced similar feelings.

“In a way, it was written not only to a younger self but also my Mother, about my growth into a person and the distance it’s created from memories long gone.” Rory says of the track. “This is a new frontier for Voodoo Bloo, a new chapter of what we stand for and what we wish to create beyond our wildest imagination.”
