Co-produced with DJ and musician Joy Orbison, rising artist Wesley Joseph shares his singular vision with new single ‘Ghostin”.
Following in the wake of this year’s earlier outings ‘Imaginary Friends’ and ‘Martyrs’, this latest release shows a different side to the 23-year-old. Dialling down the momentum of his vocal and upping the ante with the synth-infused production, ‘Ghostin” weaves an ambient wave of sound around its chilled neo-soul. Accompanied by a stunning video by former Pixar director Najeeb Tarazi, the overall experience is rich, saturated and stunning.
“’Ghostin’’ is a real melting pot of flavours and working with Joy O on the production created a natural exchange of palettes,” Joseph told The Line of Best Fit. “Blending soul, dance and experimental grooves with a melancholic, nostalgic undertone.
“The base of the song was produced the first time we met, and the hypnotic dance-like pulse with jazz chords set an off-tone vibe for the lyrics – which kind of wrote themselves on the bus home from the session.”
