Four releases and four emphatic home runs for YINYANG so far

Four releases and four emphatic home runs for YINYANG so far

Irish artist Lauren Hannan, better known as YINYANG, continues to establish herself as one of the most distinctive and exciting artists in recent memory. Her subversive and blisteringly cutting edge sound is without peer, crafting punk-edged hip-hop that drips with an effortless sense of composure and cool among her controlled chaos.

Latest release ‘Skitz’ is as restless and frenetic as it is creative. The track features a manic and overwhelming wall of sound that provides her uniquely tight flows and huge personality a suitably frenzied platform. YINYANG’s already endlessly ambitious style feels more raucous and self-assured than ever here, and just four releases in, it is very exciting to see where else it can go.

Lauren explains, “Skitz is referring to the sad clown paradox, to put it in a less decorative way it’s when you pretend you’re grand when you’re not. Painting on a happy face and using comedy to disguise the negative emotions you might actually feel. I’m terrible for it, I think we all are sometimes.”
