The track is the latest in a slew of great singles from the singer-songwriter.

Zoe Wakelam in an artist that is no stranger to adversary. Moving from Australia to the UK in 2008, she experienced first hand the effect of bullying and violent threats. A series of negative experiences and personal decisions led her to leave high school at the age of 13 to be home educated, where she was able to foster her more creative pursuits in a positive environment.

‘Acceptable Hell’ is a reflection on these experiences that Zoe has had. The serious subject matter and poignant lyrics are offset however by a wonderfully bright and cheery soundscape, with ethereal synths and irresistible melodies accosting her powerful and empowering vocal performance. ‘Acceptable Hell’ is a cathartic and often heartbreaking single, that balances its gravity and seriousness with its alluring accompanying sounds. The result is a track that feels both personal and confessional yet alluring and accessible.
