Norway based singer-songwriter Simen Mitlid returns with new release ‘Murders’, the third single from his upcoming album ‘Birds’
Simen Mitlid is the type of artist that’s worth the number one slot in your chilled playlist. Creating lo-fi indie folk music destined for greatness, ‘Murders’ is the latest wonder from Simen.
Taken off his upcoming album ‘Birds’, the track expresses reminiscing memories of friendship, family, doubt and loss.
While the lyrics consistently long for something more, musically, the track weaves through a fierce indie arrangement while holding onto a lo-fi home.
Simen says, “I wrote Murders some years ago very intuitively. I think the lyrics just follows a stream of consciousness, and is touching subjects like growing up, moving to a bigger city and other changes in my life.
I recorded the song during the pandemic-lockdown in my apartment, so it’s a pretty spare and minimalistic soundscape, and maybe a bit dystopic?”
Guiding through a downtempo soundscape, ‘Murders’ feels as light as a feather but has the strength to become a stand out number in Simen’s transcendent career
