The event will take place June 20th online
Tim Burgess has been announced as 2020’s Love Record Stores Day ambassador!
The event, taking place online, will replace the usual Record Store Day this year (now split over the dates of August 29, September 26 and October 24) and featured Burgess hosting and curating activities like a 24-hour online party, Q and A interviews, DJ sets and more. He’ll also be promoting his favourite stores online this month.
Love Record Stores Day aims to support independent record stores online in this difficult time, with exclusive releases from Oasis, Caribou, Beach House, Arctic Monkeys and more becoming available to buy.
Burgess explains his love for this cause by saying “Record shops are like drop in therapy centres for me – there’s a calmness, a familiarity and a sense of belonging that I don’t feel in many other places. A chance to talk with like-minded people – and maybe be reminded that you didn’t know as much about music as you thought you did. Like an animal threatened with extinction, we need to organise ourselves to try and stop it happening.

As part of my role at @LoveRecsStores - I’ll be tweeting a Record Shop of the Day ; )
