The much loved festival is asking for donations to the WCTrust in its cancellation
“It’s with heavy hearts that the Worcester Music Festival committee announce that the 2020 festival will no longer be taking place” reads a statement from Worcester Music Festival, citing the risk of COVID-19 as the reason for its cancellation.
The festival, formerly set to take place 11th-13th September “simply isn’t feasible for volunteers to spend time and resources on planning an event that may not be able to go ahead”
Festival Director Anthony Robbins stated “I hope that we’ll be in a position where live music in venues and festivals can return in 2021. Live music is not only a passion for me, but for so many others. Hopefully, we’ll all come out of this stronger, and I, for one, can’t wait to see live music return to my life”, adding a message of “Keep safe, keep sane; we will get there.”
We previously reported on the festival here earlier this year, stating that “festival has supported 18 charities, raising over £60,000, with £5,216.38 going to to Worcester Foodbank last year.”
Proceeds from the festival were set to go to the Worcester Community Trust, which you can give much needed donations to through WMF’s fundraiser here.
The Worcester Community Trust are also currently seeking donations of non-perishable food items, such as pasta, baked beans, soup and cereal. In addition to food, donations of children’s toys, such as puzzles, activity and colouring books will be much appreciated.
Donations can be dropped off at the Ronkswood Community Centre (Canterbury Rd, Worcester WR5 1PJ) on Monday-Thursday between 9:30 am and 2 pm.
