Forget Frankie Goes To Hollywood, By George tell listeners to ‘Relax’ with explosive new visuals for their latest track
North Carolina based By George are a four-piece alt-rock band that create distinctive tracks, ready to soothe your mind. Here with their new single ‘Relax“, the emerging outfit unveil the music video for the successful number a day early, exclusively at CLOUT.
Musically, the track reminisces early Foo Fighters’ vibes when it was just Dave Grohl in a studio on his own. Coated with psychedelic indie elements to tame the production, the scuzz-fuelled guitar parts makes this a strong debut.
Visually, the music video begins with the aftermath of, what seems like, a small party before the band venture out into town. While the main storyline showcases the youthful side of this refreshing outfit, the band make their way literally to the top and go all Beatles on us.
Performing the track live from a rooftop car park, By George certainly have their attention set on success, and we’re sure they’ll get it.
Chatting about the visuals and track, By George quote, “Relax” chronicles the complex relationship between a boy and a figure of authority at odds with each other about the boy’s development. This figure of authority seems to want the best for the boy but might not understand him very well. As the boy introspectively struggles to decide whether his frustration with the relationship is justified, he wonders if it might just be “all in his head.” The boy tries to ignore it and move on with his life, but cannot seem to relax in the moment.
“Through this song, we wanted to document the feeling of being in a relationship where neither side is necessarily wrong, but motivations end up at odds with each other. You might want the best for each other, but oftentimes what you think is best for another person is not what they think is best for themself. Rather than make it a sombre musical experience, we wanted to bring some upbeat and even slightly aggressive energy to get people to relate to that frustration.”
A fine debut, By George will be huge.
