The track follows the release of the artist’s celebrated debut single ‘Heal In Hell’
Armed with a sound that feels both tender and brutally honest and authentic, Rowan Murphy is an emerging artist who is rapidly establishing herself as compelling new indie-folk talent who’s captivating, relatable allure has more than a hint of intrigue to it.
The artist’s sophomore single ‘Getting Old’ is a piano-led track that delves into some of the artist’s formative experiences as a young teenager and the things that shaped her, including going to therapy and having a bad time there. The artist is evidently a lot more skilled at explaining how she feels and articulating her emotions than she would have been at the time, and it makes for a compelling and engrossing listening experience that is packed full of heart and some devastatingly powerful moments.
“I wrote ‘Getting Old’ when I had just turned seventeen.” Rowan says. “Despite the name of the song, growing up is only a part of what it’s about. This song touches on a lot of different areas of my life, specifically years as a young teenager. I was bullied at the age of fifteen and subsequently, went to therapy for the first time because of it. The song touches on experiences I had in therapy sessions that would leave me feeling worse when I walked out of them. “
