The track is part of her excellent new EP of the same name
With the release of her brand new EP Bittersweet, hotly-tipped UK artist Tally Spear the lingering feeling that comes with experiencing loss and tragedy, with even the good times and moments that should feel euphoric feeling slightly soured by what we’re missing or what we have lost, and it does a great job of exploring these feelings through the collection of tracks.
The climatic moment of the EP comes in the form of the title track and closer ‘Bittersweet’, a hard-hitting and resonating release that exemplifies the message of the collection of tracks and articulates the way that it feels in powerful and relatable fashion. There is a real sense of catharsis and emotional release to the lyrics, and the way that it melds softer moments with these bursts out sound and outpourings of emotion really sells the impact of these feelings and gets that across in no uncertain terms to the listener.
The track sees the artist looking to express how “after you’ve been through a loss or a tragedy, every smile or piece of good news feels bittersweet, like you can’t any longer have the sweetness without the undertone of bitter nestling close by.”
