We found out some more about genre-fluid Italian-American artist Lipford following the release of his explosive new single ‘The Music’

A multi-faceted and wildly creative artist who feels as likely to hit you with an all out, hard-rock sonic assault as he is to serenade you with a thoughtful and emotionally charged acoustic ballad, Italian-American artist Lipford is somebody who has found his footing as a solo artist, exploring and experimenting with a sound that feels entirely his own and gives him free reign to dip into a variety of styles.

The artist’s latest single ‘The Music’ and its predecessor ‘Just a Cry’ have seen him teaming up with different musicians to create heavier sounds that contrast some of the lighter ones that he had grown known for in recent times, and it showcases an ambition and a reluctance to play things safe that feels exciting and raw. His latest single ‘The Music’ is a fitting one as it serves as an ode to the art form itself while allowing him to work with Neverhush, a band that he holds in high esteem. We loved the new release here at CLOUT, and figured it made for a great time to find out some more about the artist, his journey, and his plans for the future.

Who TF is Lipford?

Well, Lipford is a singer-songwriter based in Rome who began his solo career after spending around 17 years in the alternative rock band MANTRAM. In 2020, he decided to embark on a solo journey, shifting towards a pop-oriented sound in order to give life to acoustic songs that had remained in the drawer for too long.
In recent releases, there has been a noticeable rock influence, which represents a brief return to his roots and a tribute to his golden years with MANTRAM.

How long have you been making music?

Since I was 17 years old.

Why do you make music?

Because it makes me feel alive. I believe each of us has a mission in life, and mine is to tell emotions and everyday experiences through intimate and melodic songs.

What are your biggest influences?

I have many influences, but I can say with certainty that my main inspirations are Jeff Buckley, Chris Cornell, Tears for Fears, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

What would you say has been your best moment so far?

Artistically speaking, in relation to this project, I feel I am currently experiencing one of my best moments. There have been many collaborations, growing interest in my work, and a lot of positive feedback, which makes me very happy. At the same time, I hope that my very best moment is still ahead of me.

How would you describe your sound to somebody unfamiliar with it?

I’d describe my sound as a blend of indie pop, folk rock, and alternative influences, driven by melody and honest storytelling. I’ve always been drawn to artists who combine emotional depth with strong songwriting, so my music aims to be both intimate and cinematic.
There are acoustic roots in what I do, but also modern production elements that bring energy and atmosphere to the songs. If you enjoy music that feels personal, reflective, and emotionally connected, that would be the closest description of my sound.

What’s your dream “I’ve made it” moment?

My dream “I’ve made it” moment wouldn’t necessarily be about fame. It would be standing on a stage in front of thousands of people, hearing them sing back the words to a song I wrote in my bedroom. Knowing that my music has connected with people on that level would be the ultimate achievement for me.
Another dream of mine would be to hear one of my songs featured in the soundtrack of a movie. I’ve always been fascinated by the way music can elevate a story and create unforgettable emotions on screen. Knowing that one of my songs had become part of a powerful cinematic moment would be incredibly rewarding.

We love your new single ‘The Music’, what more can you tell us about it?

First of all, thank you, I’m truly happy to hear that you enjoyed it. ‘The Music’ is actually a song I wrote many years ago, and it has always been one I dreamed of bringing to life in the way I felt it deserved. For a long time, it remained unfinished, waiting for the right moment and the right people to help shape its final form. Thanks to persistence and an incredible collaboration with Neverhush, a legendary hard rock band from Rome, that dream finally became a reality. They brought an energy, experience, and musical vision that elevated the song far beyond what I had imagined. I would describe the arrangement as nothing short of masterful, powerful, emotional, and perfectly aligned with the spirit of the track. Working with Neverhush was a fantastic experience; they were not only exceptional musicians but also wonderful companions throughout the journey, and I’m deeply grateful for everything we created together.

What else do you have planned for the near future?

My main goal for the near future is to keep producing and releasing as many new singles as possible. I have a lot of songs and ideas I would love to share, and I’m excited to continue growing my catalogue and evolving as an artist. At the same time, one of my biggest dreams is to put together an acoustic tour featuring my entire repertoire. I currently have 17 original singles released, which gives me a solid foundation for a live set. Combined with carefully selected covers from some of my favourite artists, I have already built what I believe is a very personal and meaningful setlist. There is something special about the intimacy of acoustic performances. It allows the songs, the stories, and the emotions behind them to connect directly with the audience. Hopefully, one day I will have the opportunity to take that experience on the road and share it in different places.

And finally, who is your biggest fan right now?

Without a doubt, my biggest fan right now is my son, Thomas. He is only four years old, but he does vocal training with me almost every day and already knows most of my songs by heart. For a child his age, that is something truly special. One of the greatest joys I experience as an artist is hearing him sing one of my songs. it is a feeling that is difficult to put into words. Music has given me many beautiful moments, but seeing my son connect with something I have created is something truly priceless. It reminds me that music is not only about audiences, streams, or performances, but also about the people closest to us and the emotions we share with them. I feel incredibly grateful, and I thank life every day for this wonderful gift.
