It will be the first headline tour for the 21-year-old singer-songwriter.
Who doesn’t love a good debut, especially when it comes with the confidence and tinge of dramatics as moa moa’s ‘Yellow Jacket’.
Harmonies that will keep you on your toes, paired with fun and playful lyrics about jealousy and love and you’ll be in good stead for what moa moa have created.
The band have only been together for a short time (since the summer of 2019) and have set out to combine unconventional songwriting and pop-leaning sensibilities. They recorded and self-produced ‘Yellow Jacket’ from their house in Tulse Hill and the track is the first of three to come from them in 2020.
James Ratcliffe, singer, songwriter and producer of moa moa says, “Yellow Jacket contrasts a neanderthal approach to rhythm with pithy reharmonisations of viscous guitar riffs. Lyrically the first and second verse chart the call and response of a couple articulating their emotions (poorly). I wanted to use the kind of cliches that we all find ourselves using when we’re trying to navigate feelings of jealousy, love, and desire – poking fun at the idea that by doing so, we’re successfully achieving some kind of self-preservation.”
The band play their first headline show at London’s Paper Dress Vintage on March 18th.
