It’s the title track of her newly released EP!
Pop artist San Mei is back with her new single ‘Cry’. The track is taken from her new EP of the same name, which is also out now.
Hailing from Australia’s Gold Coast, San Mei – real name Emily Hamilton – marries retro 80s synths with a dreamy indie pop sound for an inviting and familiar sound. It’s the audible equivalent of hugging a hot water bottle. With toe-tapping rhythms and bright guitar work, ‘Cry’ shows Hamilton’s sweetly pitched vocal in all its glory, however the track carries a sadder undertone, naturally.
“I wrote ‘Cry’ when I realised it had gotten to the middle of the year already, and time was flying like crazy,” shares Hamilton of her new track. “It made me think, I hadn’t really been paying attention to what was happening around me in the present, and only been thinking about the future, wishing time would hurry up so I could get to that next thing.
“I think when we’re young, we lament all the things we don’t have, or how we’re not where we want to be yet,” she continues. “We could actually end up wishing our time and youth away. This song is a reminder to myself to stop, breathe and appreciate this stage of my life and everything it has to offer.”
‘Cry’ and the EP of the same name are both available now via etcetc Records.
