UpClose with Glowe

We had a chat with Glowe to find out some more about her and what she has in store for the near future.

Georgina Lowe, better known as Glowe is a London singer-songwriter who has been quietly building a catalogue of rousing and affecting alternative pop tunes. Characterised by the artist’s candid writing style and the personality and edge that she brings to her tracks, Glowe is a potential breakout star that is gearing up for bigger things now that the worst of the pandemic looks to be behind us.

As part of our partnership with CloseUp, we had a chat with the young artist to find out a bit more about herself, how the pandemic has effected her output and the exciting things that she has planned in the near future.

Glowe/Georgia! It’s great to have a chat. We love your music as you well know. Tell us a bit more about the world of Glowe?

Hey! Thank you so much for all the support. Glowe world has been made up of studio sessions, band rehearsals, acting auditions and too many takeaways. I’ve been working so hard getting my new releases ready for you guys and I’ve never been more excited about the sound I’m crafting. I am so glad life is slowly returning to normal.

What part of the musical process do you enjoy most, and why? is it performing live, creating your tracks, or..?

I think being in the studio with my friends making music and collaborating is my favourite bit. I have to regularly pinch myself because I cant believe I get to do this for my job. Saying that, I do love doing shows just as much but they’re always over too quickly. I’d be performing shows every day if I could. I am desperate to get on a world tour!

The last 12 months and the pandemic have been crazy for musicians, how much has it had an affect on your music?

I actually had my debut EP ‘Daughter’ come out right at the beginning of lockdown 2020. Although i’ll never know how much the lockdown hindered that release, I was grateful to be able to share my work with the world. Especially at a time when we needed creativity and art the most.

Now it’s 2021 I’m trying to really focus on looking forward and not taking things for granted.

If you could create a ‘Glowe Festival’, which 3 artists would you have headlining? (Fri, Sat, Sun)

Friday –  Lily Allen

Saturday – Kaytranada

Sunday – Tyler, The Creator

Your London show this October has sold out, and you also hit Norwich’s Wild Paths festival, performing at the Karma Kafe, in the same month. Tell us what to expect from your live set?

I cannot WAIT to perform the new music I’ve been working on. I’ve really been refining my sound and creating more fun, upbeat and dancier tracks. Hearing them live with my full band setup is such an incredible feeling. After being stuck inside and life being so boring, I want everyone to dance and go crazy at my shows.
