We had a quick chat with Jeauneil to find out a little bit more about the artist behind the unique and captivating sound.Jeauneil! It’s great to sit down and have a proper chat (Kinda). We’re such big fans of your music as you well know. Tell the world a bit about your musical world?

Hey! Haha, yes, thanks for having me. I live my life around music. Ever since I found a love for playing piano at a young age I’d come home and instead of heading to the tv or playstation, I’d go straight to my keyboard and learn all of the demo songs that were stocked up on there by ear. As I got older, all I ever did after school/college was make music on an old computer my dad gave me. Nothing much has changed since then – I still wake up daily with a natural desire to create / absorb all things music related like songwriting and producing. It’s not a hobby for me, it’s life.

What part of the musical process do you enjoy most, and why? is it performing live, creating your tracks, or..?

This is probably going to sound strange, but I love the problem solving part of the musical process the most. When you think you’ve made the best track of your life so far, the one that keeps you working throughout the night… and then you get stuck because you can’t find that one sound that makes it complete? Or when you have to learn a song for a show but you can’t figure out what the next chord is? It’s within those moments where I find the most enjoyment, especially when I find that sound or that chord. It’s at that point I know that I’ve learned something new, and I’ve grown, even if it’s a small amount.

2020 has been such a crazy year for musicians, how much has it had an impact on your music?

To be honest, it’s had a great impact on my music in a good way. I don’t want to sugar coat it here, there has been ups and downs for sure – at the beginning of it all, all of the gigs and sessions I was booked for were cancelled. I’d basically lost my livelihood just like that. But with it opened up so many communities – musicians and producers alike, connecting with one another and supporting each other in crazy times like these. It really pushed me to release my debut single “Falling”, as you know and the response from that alone has been amazing! Now my EP release is so close, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone.

We for one are absolutely missing live shows/festivals more than ever thought. If you were to create an ‘Jeauneil Festival’, then WHO would be your 3 headliners?

This is a great question, and probably one of the hardest I’ve had to answer, because there’s so many artist’s I’d want to headline my festival! Right now, I’d say I’d have Niki & The Dove, Sade and D’Angelo… in no particular order.

An oh so generic question, but let’s end on a classic. What does 2021 have in store? Festivals/shows/new music?! Tell us all you can/want.

New music for sure! I’m really excited to develop myself as an artist, and work with different musicians, songwriters and producers to create even more great music for you all.
